Keyless Entry For Your Jaguar XK
Jaguar omitted the very desirable capability to control the convertible top operation with the existing remote key fob. It would be useful to be able to do this, as it would help reduce wind-driven buffeting in the XK.
Replace the battery if the Jaguar XF keyfob no longer is working or if its range has decreased. Here is how to do it.
Keyless Entry System
If you've ever had to spend several minutes digging through your pockets or purse trying to locate your keys before heading to get out of the house, think about switching to keyless entry for your Jaguar XE in Phoenix or Scottsdale. This feature provides a level of security and convenience to your Jaguar car that many appreciate. The Jaguar key fob will be able to detect when you are within the range of your XE. With the key fob close by and grabbing the door handle or pressing the release button on the luggage compartment will open your car.
Your Jaguar key fob is equipped with an electronic chip that allows it to connect directly with the Jaguar system. It can open doors or windows, operate sunroofs and sunroofs, and even remotely begin your engine. The key fob is equipped with rubber seals that protect it from water damage, it's crucial to remove the key from the holder and clean any electronics that are exposed with paper towels and isopropyl alcohol, or electronic cleaner. The submersion of your key fob with soapy or salty water will cause damage to the circuit and will require the replacement.
The Jaguar XK keyfob comes with the option to "double-lock" your vehicle. This offers additional security against theft. However you may find that your Jaguar key fob might stop working for a number of reasons, such as a dead battery in the key fob, or an unpaired key that requires changing the program by the dealer.
Transponder Chip Keys
Jaguar introduced a new key model for its cars in 1998, that required specialized equipment to program. The keys contain a transponder chip in them that disables the vehicle's standard immobiliser system. The keys need to be added to Jaguar's database which is usually done by a locksmith or dealer. Contrary to popular belief not all locksmiths or dealers are prepared to deal with this type of key. In fact, some locksmiths have been accused of charging excessive fees to Jaguar owners for their services.

Tibbe Keys
Some Jaguars in the 1990s had a type of key called the Tibbe key. These require special equipment to make because they have flat cuts that are precisely angled on four different sides. These keys are not interchangeable with regular keys, and most locksmiths do't have the tools to cut them. The Keylab could result in lengthy wait times for those who need replacement keys. Dealerships may be able to cut them but typically they charge a large amount.
The lock is interesting. It consists of either six or eight discs rotary that need to be aligned so that the sidebars of the lock to fall into place, allowing access to the door lock or trunk. This is accomplished by using a specific tool that appears like a drill piece, and the process can be difficult. This tool should only be used on the DOOR lock and not the ignition or trunk lock.
There are a small number of locksmiths who specialize in Tibbe key production, and their prices differ based on a range of factors, such as time, effort, costs of consumables and equipment, and so on. The adapter kit required to work with these keys can cost hundreds of dollars. Each one has to be programmed manually for each new key.
Key Fob Battery Replacement

It is essential to keep a spare battery available. If the key fob ceases responding to buttons or ceases to respond to them, it's probably time to replace it. Your Message Center may also alert you that the battery is low.
The good news is that changing the battery inside your Jaguar key fob is easy and can be done in a matter of moments in your garage. The first step is to open the fob's lid open using either a flat-headed screwdriver or your fingernail. It is possible to separate the two seams which connect the halves of the key fob, revealing the blade.
You can slide the blade of the key back after the fob has been opened to reveal the old battery. The battery should look like an old coin with the sign of a plus and minus on one side. Make sure to insert another battery of the same size and orientation it properly.
Make sure you only touch the battery from the sides. Touching it from the top or bottom can cause moisture to transfer which reduces battery life. Reassemble the fob and test the remote's buttons to see whether it's working. If you require further assistance you can contact your local Jaguar Annapolis service professionals.
